Permanent honeycomb ground management for arenas, paddocks and yards
A lightweight honeycomb slab in hanit Ultra recycled plastic that locks together into a rigid, free-draining raft. Independent testing carried it to SLW 60 heavy-duty truck loading, so the same slab suits a horse arena and a utility vehicle parking area.

Advantages and trade-offs

Advantages
Light in the hand, heavy in capacity
At 4.6 lbs a slab it handles like a paver, but tested breaking force reached 225–263 kN on bedded and rigid bases.
Best coverage per pallet in the range
671 ft² per pallet means fewer pallets, lower freight per square foot and less handling on site.
Works under any finish
Fill with sand, gravel, topsoil for grass, or add a 3–4” tread layer of sand, rubber or fleece for arena footing.
Eliminates the mud/dust cycle
Drainage through the honeycomb keeps feeding points and gateways usable in wet weather and stable in dry weather.
Considerations & limitations
No locking connection under impact
hanit notes that in arenas where jumping takes place, slabs can occasionally work loose. Factor that in before specifying for a jumping arena.
Needs a prepared bed
Unlike Mud Control Grids, Paddock Slab expects a compacted sharp sand or grit bed over geotextile and a free-draining sub-base.
Shallower profile
The 1⅝” depth holds less fill than HDGG, so deeply rutted or very soft ground should be built up first.
Load rating depends on the ground
SLW 60 capability assumes the subgrade itself can carry the load per ZTV SoB 04.
