Eco Slab

Interlocking hexagonal slabs for temporary events or permanent surfaces

A 3.75 lb hexagonal slab that clicks together into a slip-resistant floor. Roll it out on firm ground for an event and lift it afterwards, or bed it properly for a permanent driveway or amenity area rated to SLW 60 vehicles.

Eco Slab unit made from recycled plastic

Key facts

  • Closed slab: 427 psi test load, no cracking, 100 t/ft² breaking force
  • Slotted slab: 285 psi test load, no cracking, 67 t/ft² breaking force
  • Quick to install, easy to dismantle and reuse
  • Slip-resistant surface for indoor or outdoor events

Advantages and trade-offs

Every surface is a compromise. Here is where Eco Slab performs, and where another product in the range is the better call.

Advantages

  • Rent it out, then lift it

Laid on firm level ground it can be used immediately and dismantled the same week — the only product here designed for repeat temporary deployment.

  • Two versions, two jobs

Closed slabs give a solid, cleanable floor for indoor events; slotted slabs drain and ventilate outdoors.

  • Genuinely light

3.75 lbs a slab means crews carry stacks by hand, with no plant required for most event installs.

  • Hexagons follow the shape

The hexagonal geometry adapts to irregular areas far more easily than a rectangular grid.

Considerations & limitations

  • Needs firm ground for temporary use

On soggy grass a roll-out geogrid is needed underneath, and on very soft or boggy ground Eco Slab is not recommended without further preparation.

  • Half-slab gaps at straight edges

The hexagonal shape leaves a half-slab gap along a straight edge, so expect cutting and a little waste at borders.

  • Not a deep-fill reinforcement grid

It is a surface, not a cell structure to fill with gravel — for load spreading over weak subgrade choose HDGG or Hanpave.

  • Expansion gap required

Leave ⅜–¾” between the slabs and any border or curb.

Installation

  1. 01Temporary useLay directly onto firm, stable, level ground and use immediately. Add a roll-out geogrid over soggy grass.
  2. 02Edge restraintFor permanent use install an edge or curb to stop bedding material moving.
  3. 03Sub-baseWhere the ground is not strong enough, lay 4–6” of compacted free-draining stone.
  4. 04Geotextile and beddingNon-woven needle-punched geotextile with 6” overlaps, then a compacted 1” sharp sand or grit bedding layer.
  5. 05InstallStart from the edge, seating the interlocking hooks beneath each slab, and work outward. Cut with a circular saw.
  6. 06Bed inCompact with a nylon-covered plate vibrator for immediate use.
